Florida Amendment 2 Passes, Securing Constitutional Rights for Hunting and Fishing
IOTR, TRA celebrate victory and commit to action in more states
“It’s our mission at the International Order of T. Roosevelt to protect the right to hunt and fish forever. Today, Florida voters sent a message that they won’t stand for attacks against our sporting heritage. This is a win for Florida’s anglers and hunters, whose rights are now protected unlike so many in this country.
“Florida has overwhelmingly passed the Right to Fish and Hunt amendment with over 6.5 million votes, marking the largest victory in history for these rights by sheer numbers. This monumental achievement not only reflects the deep-rooted passion of Floridians for outdoor sports but also sets a powerful precedent for other states.
“As we face increasing threats to our hunting and fishing traditions, this trend demonstrates that grassroots efforts can mobilize communities to protect our rights and heritage. More than half the states in the country are still missing these crucial protections for hunting and fishing rights. States across the nation can now look to Florida’s success as a blueprint for advocacy and action, uniting sportsmen and women to push back against restrictive regulations and safeguard our outdoor way of life. IOTR and TRA will continue to educate hunters and anglers on threats to their rights and advocate for states to take up similar constitutional protections in their constitutions.”
T. Roosevelt Action (TRA), a 501(c)4 advocacy organization, was instrumental in passing legislation and supporting Yes on Amendment 2, the official campaign arm supporting Amendment 2’s passage in Florida. As part of their work, TRA sent 4.5 million text messages and 500,000 mailers to low-propensity anglers and hunters in Florida, urging them to sign a pledge to vote in the November election. TRA organizers were on the ground in Florida all year, attending 200 events and meetings with outdoor groups and urging them to sign the pledge to vote.
