John Thodos was born in Oak Park, IL and raised in Palatine, IL, both northwestern suburbs of Chicago. He attended William Fremd High School in Palatine, IL, after which he attended Loyola University of Chicago, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in 1978, then attended Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL, receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1982 and his orthodontic and maxilla-facial orthopedics specialty degree in 1984.
He began his specialty practice in Orthodontics and Maxillofacial Orthopedics in Palatine, IL, his hometown. He expanded his practice into the additional northwestern Chicago suburbs of Cary, IL and Algonquin, IL. He maintained this chain of practices for over 30 years, prior to his retirement from active practice.
John is an avid outdoorsman, archer, hunter and angler, a US Coast Guard Auxilarist and an avid aviator. John has many hobbies which include beekeeping, gardening and gourmet cooking.
He has dedicated his life to wildlife conservation efforts to preserve what God has given us today for those future generations of tomorrow. Being a philanthropist he has served on many conservation organization boards, including being a past-president of the honored Shikar-Safari Club International Foundation for eight years. He serves as a director of the USA Shooting Team Foundation for the USA Olympic Shooting team. Knight Grand Officer of the International Order of St Hubertus, life member of the NRA, Safari Club International and past president of the Shikar-Safari Club International.
John, along with his wife Peggy, reside in Naples, Florida and have a daughter, Alexis.
