IOTR Praises House of Reps. for Protecting Our Hunting Heritage
Calls on Senate to take immediate action
[Scottsdale, Ariz.] – International Order of T. Roosevelt Executive Director Luke Hilgemann released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed late Tuesday evening the bipartisan Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act, allowing students to continue archery and other hunting safety education programs in schools:
“The House showed overwhelming support for our hunting heritage and the next generation of American sportsmen. Hunting is conservation and these programs educate our kids in the traditions important for carrying on our way of life. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Sens. Tammy Baldwin and John Tester need to take up and support this bill in the Senate urgently. Their constituents are watching.”
The legislation is a response to the Biden Administration and the Department of Education withholding funding from schools that offer hunting and archery programs in their curriculum. The bill passed the House 424-1.
